The Mindful Path to Dealing with Difficult Students: Social Emotional Learning Made Easy with the Prosocial Matrix

Presented by: 

Phil Tenaglia, M.A., is a school psychologist and psychological flexibility expert at the Hamilton Educational Program in the Hamilton Township Public School District.  He works full-time supporting teachers and students directly in regular and special education classrooms through consultation, counseling, and support.  He is also a licensed psychologist and family therapist at the Growth Opportunity Center in Southampton, PA.

Mr. Tenaglia has been a Prosocial Matrix Trainer for 10 years in addition to his many years of study and practice of mindfulness based approaches.  Mindfulness and present moment awareness have been extensively researched and incorporated into the Prosocial Matrix approach.  The Prosocial Matrix is a collaborate, empowering, evidenced-based approach to developing healthy classrooms and wellness for teachers, students, and parents and is currently being implemented in many schools, classrooms and youth organizations.

Objectives: As a result of this interactive workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Know the basic parts of the Prosocial Matrix
  • Know two functional tools from the Prosocial Matrix that can be used by teachers/students immediately
  • Know two basic applications of the Prosocial Matrix in the classroom
  • Know the basic principles of mindfulness that underly the Prosocial Matrix

Intended Audience:

This program will benefit Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Educators, Principals, Teachers, Graduate Students, and other practitioners within mental health and education who provide direct services and/or parent/teacher consultation for this population.
