About this workshop:  This workshop will focus on existing data and evidence-based resources and strategies to positively impact youth vaping. The workshop will seek to empower youth, parents, educators, administrators and health care professionals and others with actionable information to make a difference on this issue. There will be a particular focus on the linkages between exposure to nicotine and brain development and behavioral health challenges. The role of the Vaping Industry in creating and perpetuating this vaping epidemic will also be discussed.

Self-care is a personal challenge and a professional mandate that every therapist must confront. Self-care is seldom taught in graduate school and too seldom discussed by professionals. There are many ways to promote self-care. This workshop will address self-care as an ethical imperative, the paradox of self-care, barriers to self-care, and research-informed methods of therapist self-care. Participants are invited to discuss their own self-care struggles and strategies as well as ethical dilemmas they have encountered.

Stop the Bleed Brochure

About this workshop:
It can take only minutes for a person to die from bleeding after injury.  STOP THE BLEED™ empowers bystanders in the setting of a bleeding emergency by providing them with the knowledge and skills to save a life, while waiting for help to arrive.

Participants will learn how to:  Identify/recognize life-threatening bleeding; perform the three steps necessary to saving a life (pressure, packing, tourniquets), and the ABC’s of bleeding control.

About this workshop:
This session will focus on identifying often hidden warning signs and risk factors, building a therapeutic alliance, utilizing assessment tools, effectively conducting youth suicide risk assessment interviews, and determining level of suicide risk. This training will include information regarding how to effectively use technology as well as strengths and pitfalls of information technology for youth.

Practitioners attending this workshop will gain an understanding of how to monitor suicidal behavior over time, plan treatment, and protect oneself from vicarious traumatization. Attendees will leave this workshop with many specific strategies and skills that can be implemented immediately. This seminar will conclude with a comprehensive case review to ensure practical understanding of the material presented.
